- Reed switches are normally open. In a magnetic field, the two reeds contact to close the circuit and trigger a signal. Hall effect switches must always have current present. In a magnetic field, the semiconductor generates a voltage across the sense leads.Removing the magnetic field returns the switch to its normally-open state. Check your PLC to determine if sinking (NPN) or sourcing (PNP) input is used. Sinking will sink current to ground.Sourcing will provid current from the +VDC. Order one switch mounting bracket per switch.
